My First Scrapbook
Okay, I should say that I have been crafting & "scrapbooking" forever. When I was a kid I used to create little title pages for my photo albums that I would slip into place (rather then having a picture in the spot). I would use construction paper, pens, markers & stamps to jazz it up.
The reason I'm blogging about this topic today, is because I was over at the Pink Paislee Blog (Pink Paislee IS my fav. scrapbook brand, check it out it you haven't yet!) and Kayla blogged about her first scrapbook. So I thought I'd share about MY first scrapbook.
My first "scrapbook" was for my brother. I created it as a gift for him, capturing photos from growing up through high school. It was a graduation gift for him. I used stickers, cardstock and probably decorative scissors. And I KNOW I probably cut pictures out around the people (gasp!). I honestly don't think I used a paper trimmer, just scissors and probably used scotch tape to adhere it all down (my I have come so far from that).
My brother means so much to me and I thought it was a thoughtful, sweet gesture from his sometimes pestering older sister. Now I create scrapbooks for and about my nephew and my do they look a lot different then the one I made my brother. I wonder if he still has that scrapbook.
I did use an archival safe album... does that score me points?

MemoryWorks - March Express Kit
The MemoryWorks Express kit is a great way to try new products that you may love or you may have never thought of trying or buying! I love the March kit and all the bright colors that were in it! My goal this year is to use my supplies. If I buy something, I need to use it and ALL of it, before I move onto another paper line. So far, this is working really well. Here are a few projects I completed with the March 2010 MemoryWorks Express Kit. (The March kit is sold out, but the link gives you an idea of how much stuff is LOADED in these kits. For more information on subscribing to the MW Express Kit club, contact me.
Tip of the day: You buy product for a reason, sure it looks beautiful, spunky or the got-to-have item. But it is not beautiful sitting in a paper holder, box or drawer. Use the papers vs hoarding papers. Show them off with the photos you love! That is why you bought the papers, right?

stamps galore!
So I got some products to complete my next MemoryWorks assignment today; and I also ordered some product for my stash! I'm so excited to be working with this new line (I can't tell you what it is, you will have to wait till April 1 to see it). With my order though I got some great stamps, that I can't WAIT to go home and use!
I ordered the American Crafts: Whistle Clear Stamps and Teresa Collins: BeBe Girl clear stamps (I just HAD to have the chandelier on it) See to the left.
Last night I was working on a layout for a song challenge (I will share later this week) and also decided to work on an album of my nephew's first birthday (a combination of photos from both his birthday parties). I'm using the BasicGrey: Offbeat paper line (I bought a lot of it before he was born, I just LOVE the bright bold colors!) I also recently bought the new BasicGrey: Kioshi 6x6 paper pad. I'm not quite sure what I'll do with it yet, but the papers are beautiful. I was unsure of this line when I saw it online, but when I saw it in person and it is a great combination of colors and patterns.
MemoryWorks released their NEW Spring 2010 catalog this week! If you are interested in purchasing one or viewing the PDF version, please contact me.
For all of you who live in Fargo (or nearby), I will be holding a class on April 9, 2010. I will teach you how to make homemade embellishments. On a budget? These embellishments will help your budget and give you scrapbook pages and projects style! More information will be released soon! If you are interested please contact me.
Don't forget to sign-up for my monthly newsletter! Each month I highlight my favorite products in the scrapbook world, a project for you to complete on your own and much more! Sign-up here on my blog (sign-up located on the left hand side).
Exciting news - the SUN made it's presences today in Fargo! It's been WAY too long. I even wore my sunglasses! Happy Tuesday!

March Showers...brings Summer sooner?
It has been a rainy March so far; not that I'm complaining, because I would take this rain over snow any day! This past weekend my little nephew turned one!! He is such a joy to be around. He makes me laugh and is too cute for words! Here are a few pictures of his birthday party.
Lucas is crawling all over the place now and his favorite word is "up". And he can also say "dance", "book" and "hi". Aw it melts me! He can also walk, a little. He takes a few steps (like up to 8-10) and then falls.
Happy Birthday little guy! Auntie loves you so much.
I think we were getting cold. I couldn't resist a picture with him! Well I know I was cold, my nose is red. I love going down to visit him!! It was really nice to see my family (mom, dad, brother, sister in law, nephew, aunt, uncle & cousins), plus seeing my sister in laws parents and brother. It was a very nice weekend.

It's MID Week!
My scrapbook class went really well. I have one extra kit if anyone is interested in purchasing it. It is $22 (plus shipping). It includes Cosmo Cricket Mini Deck (Material Girl) (Shown in this post), coordinating Cosmo Cricket Material Girl stickers and journaling spots, 3 pieces of kraft paper (8 1/2 x 11), Cosmo Cricket Tiny Letter stickers (cream) and a 4x6 album.
MemoryWorks has released a lot of great new products (and LOTS more to come). I have fallen in love with the Teresa Collins items. My favorites are the Welcome Home Theme Set and Welcome Home Stamps! I'm addicted to acrylic stamps! I think they are the best thing ever invented. They store so nicely and easy to clean. I have refused to buy wood stamps (even though that is tough because there are so many cute ones). But for me it is not worth the money (and the space they take up). I love the Welcome Home acrylic stamps mainly because of the chandelier. But at a longer glance there are so many cute stamps on this set.
I moved this past weekend into a new apartment, so the creative and crafty part of me has not been able to dig into my scrapbooking supplies. I hope to get things organized at least a little bit the next few nights, so I can create. On that note. My newsletter should be coming out this weekend. With the move I have not been able to get to the project for the newsletter.
If you are interested in purchasing any of the NEW (or old) MemoryWorks products, check out my website! Also, don't forget to check out my Etsy store, new items to come soon. I can also make custom ordered items. So just let me know what you are looking for.
In just a few short days my little nephew turns 1!! I can't wait to see him this weekend. I guess he can say a few words now and crawl. A year ago I was waiting for this little guy to enter the world and now he is here and already ONE! He is such a joy to be around.
The picture to the left is his birthday wish for his Auntie!! Aw love you sweetie!
Happy Wednesday!
